Grievances - Tony Andrade |
|
backlog
Since November 2008 up until the present (Jan, 2009) the local has submitted 76 traditional members grievances and 4 for the RSMC’s. Attempts have been made unsuccessfully by the local to have 1st level grievance hearings. In addition to this, over 100 grievance files, submitted prior to me taking office, have also not been heard at the 1st level.
Bob Pinder, Labour Relations Officer out of Regina, has committed to having these back-logged files dealt with sometime in early February. As far as the other 80 grievances submitted since November I am hoping they will get heard in the latter part of February.
The grievance department is attempting to schedule regular bi-monthly grievance hearings to avoid any further backlogs being created.
If a member, for any reason, is unsure whether or not they have a grievance, my advice would be to fill out a grievance investigation form, available from any shop steward, and allow the grievance department to see if a violation of the collective agreement has occurred.
